It seems like many areas have their own Bigfoot-type legend or creature.
Ours is known as the Big Muddy Monster. It was supposedly first seen in the 1970s in an area where teenagers would go and "parked" at night in the town of Murphysboro, Illinois.
I grew up on the Big Muddy River, and we were always warned about the monster as kids to help keep us away from the river so we didn't get hurt or drown.
